The entire month of January saw children participating enthusiastically and giving in their best, for the grand and most awaited event between 29 January and 02 February, 2010 at St. Andrews Auditorium, Bandra (West).

This year, we, at Lilavatibai Podar Senior Secondary School proudly staged the most popular musical the world over, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

Over the years Lilavatibai Podar have successfully presented musicals – The Wiz, Fiddler on the Roof, Oliver, Man of La Mancha, Sound of Music, Rats, Jungle Book and for every musicals there have been 4 to 6 casts with over 3000 students participating. Some of the best professional expertise ,train the students for dance, drama, choir and live band music. This totally becomes a truly learning experience for both our students and teachers. The popular musical was screened for all the students in their classrooms and had activities centered around different aspects of the musical viz – the costumes, the culture, the Ishmalites, the Egyptians, the Pharaoh and then this culminated to be an unforgettable experience. Both primary and secondary staged the musical separately.

Primary had four casts and secondary had two cast, with over five hundred students participating per cast.

• The other highlights this year was the school presented a fifteen minutes audio-visual before the show with testimonials from parents, students and staff.
• The school have appreciated their students contribution and have awarded every participant with a certificate.
• The welcome Dance and Song was superbly put up by the Primary Section paying a tribute to the late king of Pop – Michael Jackson.

A brief synopsis of the musical:

Joseph, one of twelve sons, was his father, Jacob’s favourite. To proclaim that, he was favoured, he gave him a multi-coloured coat. His brother, jealous of his good fortune decided to get rid of him. They stripped him of his coat and sold him into slavery. Being intelligent and honest, Josephs became the main servant of Potiphar, a rich Egyptian. Falling out of facour with Potiphar because he resisted the advances of his wife, Joseph was sent to jail, where he puts his ability to interpret dreams to good use. He is discovered by the Pharoah and in made the most important assistant in the Kingdom. His now starving brothers, arrive in Egypt begging for help. Initially his brothers do not recognize him. After Joseph sees that they have repented, he reveals himself to them and the brothers are united again.
The Podarites also offered a tribute to the late king of Pop – Michael Jackson with a medley of four songs and dances in the welcome song & dances item.
