Another important feature of the re-opening day was a workshop conducted by Dr. Jagmeet Madan, Head, Dept of Food and Nutrition from SNDT College of Home Science. The session’s highlight was PROJECT ‘MARG’ (Medical Education for Children and Adolescents for Realistic Prevention of Obesity and Diabetes, for Healthy Growth and Ageing). The project targets the age group of 9 – 18 years school children and junior college students. It aims to sensitize children about the ill effects of obesity and to create awareness about health hazards viz. Cardiovascular Diseases, Diabetes, Cancer etc due to obesity. The main issues discussed in the session were – causes of obesity, factors contributing to health, what are the risks? And thus, prevention of the same. Earlier in the month of April, the same MARG team trained our Std X cookery students on how to take anthropometric measurements. |
