Lilavatibai Podar Senior Secondary School, ISC, hosted the interschool techno-fest ‘gizmo geeks 2009’ now in its fourth year. This year it was held on Thursday, 01 October, 2009 and 17 Mumbai ICSE schools participated in three categories: Sub-Junior level (Std. IV and V), Junior level (Std. VI, VII and VIII) and Senior level (Std. IX to Std. XII). They are as follows:

The finale and the prize distribution was held in the school yard at 05:00 pm, well attended by the Principals and some prominent judges from the IT industry. Prizes were given away by Smt. Saroj Podar, President and Patron of Podar Schools, Mrs. Perin Bagli, Secretary, AISM and Principal of Activity School, Mrs. Veena Sethi, President, AISM and Principal of Marble Arch School, Mrs. Asha Bhandari, Principal, Jasudben M. L. School, and our Principal, Mrs. Norina Fernandes.

2. Like every year participants of gizmo geeks have supervised me with their creativity, technical aptitude and passions towards environment through their demonstrations.    Rationale behind the points allocations:
   • Bulb Head - Innovative, out of the box idea, made from waste, aesthetic value good as compared to others and interesting name.
   • Magnetic Space - Simple concept, aesthetic value good and made from waste detailing.
   • Ganesha - Good aesthetic value, utilized waste and the model did attend minute details.

5. Its been a great experience sorting the contest showcased by the students. Subject and Project was relevant to the topics, indeed it will create awareness in the students about the importance of eblogs in today’s media world.

6. Such events are essential for all the schools to inculcate the spirit of research and thinking original ideas for the welfare of society, saving planet earth especially where resources are exhausting, Global warming is a concern for all of us.
   
   It is also requested that participants may be informed about the time for presentation and they should strictly follow that. Stopping them in between some time hurts them.
   
   There is no doubt that such events help students to learn a lot but INTERNET  is a big concern when it comes to uses. It is not allowing students to think with originality which should be encouraged.
